C W Dixey is the oldest independent eyewear company in the world - born in 1777 in London's Bond Street.  Its long list of prestigious clients include Sir Winston Churchill, Bond creator Ian Fleming, Napoleon, and Queen Victoria herself - to whom C W Dixey served as her personal Optician.

In a world of soulless mass production, C W Dixey celebrates exclusivity and individuality, even today they remain true to their heritage creating eyewear that transends time and style - true classics.  All frames are beautifully handcrafted using the best acetate.  With fine lines in traditional styles, including the round eye worn by Churchill himself and old school half eyes.
Frames in the Lanes, Brighton's hippest eyewear retailer have just announced Alex Button as the winner of 'Face of Frames 2009'. Alex who is from Hove, will not only feature in the shop's promotional materials but also wins some fantastic prizes including designer spectacles from Brighton duo Booth and Bruce, a choice of stylish sunglasses and a day's pampering from Spruce in Kemp Town.

The competition was launched on Friday 9th July and invited people to come into our shop and have their photo taken wearing some designer frames. The idea behind it was to raise the profile of the shop both locally and online, to promote footfall and encourage new visitors to the shop and to generally provide an interesting way to interact above and beyond the usual advertising methods.

Alex was delighted by his win:
I can't believe I won! I think it was a great competition and I look forward to working with Frames in the Lanes as well as enjoying my fabulous prizes

We are 1 year old

We announced the winner at an event to celebrate Frames in the Lanes first year anniversary which was attended by competition finalists, customers, partners, friends and local media. The judges made their shortlist earlier in the week and were impressed with many of the entrants, some of which came from across Sussex and London.

It was such a fabulous evening - we really can't believe that we are celebrating our first year - huge thanks to all our customers in our first year - we look forward to many more! As part of our celebrations, check out the Frames in the Lanes exclusive Gold Star sale, which started on Monday 31st August.

A Runaway Success

We were thrilled to be asked to co-sponsor the Winter Pride Fashion Show at Charles Street Bar in Brighton recently. The models sashayed down the runway in array of great outfits including our glasses. Our Funk frames looked particularly great on the cute models. Photo shows one of the guests wearing one of our party numbers.

FUNK - designed by Dieter Funk, a German DJ and frame designer - what a combo! These are an amazing range again available exclusively from Frames in the Lanes. Some are retro - big double bridge acetates, salmon pink 50's style - huge Aviator style metals - all of them bang on trend.

Stars of stage and screen...

You might have seen us on TV a few weeks ago if you are in the ITV Meridien region. They filmed Frames in the Lanes as part of the launch of a local business initiative 'Business Lifebelt' which offers retailers in Brighton practical support through workshops etc. We were asked to be a case study for the 'Customer Service' workshop and spoke about how important delivering great service is for us - we have lots of new customers through recommendation so feel we could speak with confidence on this.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
